Radio Knowledge progress

The Radio Knowledge quiz saves question identifiers, selected answers and the current round in this browser’s local storage so refreshing or reopening the page can resume your progress. This functional progress stays on your device; it is not sent to MiamiPDScanner, Analytics or a model service. You can clear it with “Reset progress on this device” in the quiz or by clearing this site’s browser data. It does not sync across browsers or devices. If you choose to share a result, only the displayed score, any “Not sure yet” count and the quiz link are passed to the sharing destination you select.

Who we are and what this policy covers

MiamiPDScanner is an independently operated public-safety radio broadcasting project. We are not affiliated with the City of Miami or any law enforcement agency. This policy covers miamipdscanner.com and the integrations we use to operate and publish to MiamiPDScanner-controlled accounts. Questions and requests can be sent to miamipdscanner@gmail.com.

Our connected applications include publishing tools registered under names such as MiamiPDScanner Reels, MiamiPDScanner Alerts, YouTube Marker and MPDScannerBeeps. A registration name does not mean every historical application is currently active. These tools support our own operation; this website does not currently offer visitor accounts or a service for connecting visitors’ social accounts.

This website

Our hosting provider processes standard connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the website. We do not currently collect form submissions through this website. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include, your email address and the information needed to respond.

Google Analytics and your choices

Google Analytics measures visits, referral sources, device and approximate geographic information, channel choices, player activity and outbound links. Analytics uses pseudonymous browser identifiers and cookies; it does not give us a listener’s name. We do not send radio transcripts, radio or officer identities, incident locations, email addresses or account credentials to Analytics.

For visitors our hosting provider identifies as being in the United States, Analytics is enabled by default unless you have opted out or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. Use “Analytics preferences” to turn it off at any time. For other or unknown regions, Analytics stays off until you choose “Allow analytics.” An existing “No thanks” choice continues to keep it off everywhere. We honor your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal even if you previously allowed Analytics.

Our hosting provider uses its country-level connection information only to select this preference default; the website does not request your device location or save the country decision. Declining Analytics does not affect listening. The preference is stored locally for up to six months; Analytics cookies also expire after up to six months. Advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled for this implementation. Event-level Analytics data is configured for retention of up to 14 months; standard aggregate reports may be retained longer. Website player statistics are estimates of observed playback, not YouTube’s official view counts, watch hours or earnings. Google processes collected information under its Privacy Policy.

YouTube players and external services

This service uses YouTube API Services. The video player loads only when you choose to load it. Playback starts only when you press Play in YouTube’s player. Loading and using the player connects your browser to YouTube, which can process device, connection and playback information and serve advertisements under its own policies. YouTube’s Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy apply to these features.

Links to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X and Telegram take you to those services. Material we publish there is available according to the audience and privacy settings of that service. Their account, advertising and privacy practices apply there; our website Analytics choices do not control their independent processing.

Connected publishing accounts

With the owner’s authorization, our tools access the MiamiPDScanner accounts and information needed to schedule and manage broadcasts; upload videos, images and captions; publish alerts and daily reports; update broadcast information; and check the results of those operations. Depending on the provider and operation, this includes account and channel identifiers, broadcast and media identifiers, titles and descriptions, publishing status, upload responses and delivery receipts. Credentials authorize those operations and are kept outside the public website and source repository. Our tools do not ask website visitors for social-account passwords.

Publishing sends the selected text, images, recordings or video to the destination service. We retain operational records to diagnose failures, prevent duplicate publishing and maintain the operation. Registration permissions can be broader than the fields a particular operation uses; they are not a statement that all available audience data is collected.

Radio recordings, transcripts and reasoning

Our independently captured radio recordings, transcripts, decoded radio metadata, generated summaries and pre-publication drafts are distinct from data returned by social-platform APIs. They support broadcasting, transcription, alerts, operational diagnosis and continued improvement of the scanner system. Radio information may include details that were publicly transmitted and may be incomplete or incorrect. This website does not provide a public index of inferred radio-to-officer identities or officer-location histories.

Selected radio transcripts and related context are processed by OpenAI to help prepare structured summaries and alerts. This is separate from the website’s Google Analytics. Our alert-preparation workflow supplies our radio evidence to that reasoning service. Social audience messages and analytics reports are not inputs to this workflow. We do not treat a platform’s data as unrestricted merely because our own content was posted there.

Service providers and access

We use service providers to host and deliver the website, store operational material, process selected radio evidence and publish content. These include Amazon Web Services, Google and YouTube, OpenAI, Meta’s Facebook and Instagram services, X and Telegram, according to the function being used. Authorized operators and technical service providers may access operational information as needed to maintain the project. Public content is shared when published; credentials and private operational records are not public website assets.

Retention and data requests

Retention differs between our radio source material, website Analytics, correspondence and provider-derived operational records. Some independently created radio material and operational history is kept as a long-term archive. That archive is not a blanket retention rule for data obtained from third-party APIs. Provider-derived records are subject to the relevant provider’s requirements and the purpose for which access was authorized.

You can ask us to identify, correct or delete information we hold about you by emailing miamipdscanner@gmail.com. Requests are handled through a manual review; there is no automatic deletion button or public account database on this site. Our data-request instructions explain what to send and how requests are handled. We may need reasonable information to identify the records and confirm your authority. Do not send passwords, access tokens or identity documents in an initial request.

Google-account owners can also revoke a connected application’s access through Google Account permissions. Revoking access and requesting removal of stored copies are separate actions. Removing our copies does not automatically delete posts or account data hosted by another service, or make independently obtained radio material disappear.

Security and updates

We restrict access to credentials and private operational records and keep them separate from public site assets. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please contact miamipdscanner@gmail.com with privacy concerns or a suspected exposure; do not include secrets. We update this policy when the service or its data practices change.
